Seventeen countries. One family.
Competition is optional at Ironwood — plenty of our students never step into a ring. But for those who want it, the door opens onto a very large world.
Compete close to home this October.
Region 5 is hosting the 2026 Fall Extravaganza in Frankenmuth — about an hour from the studio. That is a rare thing: a full regional tournament without a hotel bill or a long drive.
Divisions run from non-judged forms and belt sparring for our youngest students (ages 6–7 and under) through judged forms, gear sparring, and specialty divisions — creative open-hand forms, creative weapons, breaking and team sparring. There is a division for every rank in this studio.
Not competing? Come anyway. Spectator entry is $5, and watching your first tournament from the stands is the best way to decide whether you want to be in the ring next time.
Registration is handled by WTSDA Region 5. Talk to Mr. Bugala before you register if you are unsure which divisions to enter.

2026 World Championships
Our students went to Worlds.
The theme of the 2026 World Tang Soo Do Association World Championships was One Family. Roughly 1,800 practitioners from seventeen countries on one floor.
We want to recognise every one of our students for their dedication to this studio and to the WTSDA, and applaud their courage for stepping into the ring on that scale. Miss Jasmine, Miss Cora and Mr. Dean did not place this time, but they demonstrated exceptional spirit and proudly represented Ironwood — we could not be more proud of them.

One Family
A black belt, tied by the instructor who started her.
At Worlds, Miss Tatum Lambert was reunited with her original instructor, Miss Raechel White, who presented her with her embroidered black belt.
Life pulls people in different directions. Tang Soo Do and the WTSDA are how they stay connected. Thank you, Miss White, for trusting us with your student — and congratulations to Miss Lambert on her Cho Dan.
The season
What a year looks like.
Rank testing
Held at the studio through the year. Little Dragons cycles run about four months and finish with a test in front of the class. Every rank is earned in front of people who know exactly what it took.
Region 5 Black Belt Camp
A weekend each year where our dan ranks train with masters from across Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. The 2026 theme was Ryun Ma — Polish Your Skills.
Tournaments
Regional tournaments through the year, building toward the World Championships for those who want to go. The next one — the Fall Extravaganza — is in Frankenmuth this October.
